K 2, p 3 – repeat * this pattern till the end of this row. When you reach last 3 stitches, k 2 and p the last st.
Continue this pattern * rows 5, 6, 7, 8, till you reach the desired length. Take the measurements of the book – wrap the ruler around the book and measure the length of the project. The project will be stretchy; it measures approximately 9 inches without stretching. However, its width may increase up to approximately 15 inches.
In this pattern, we knitted till the project reached 14 inches in length. Cast off the final row and cut the yarn. Leave approximately 20 inches of yarn that you will use to sew the project’s edges, or take separate yarn and sew.
Fold the project into half, use the needle, sew the project’s edges together, cut, secure, and weave extra yarn.
Attaching the button
Place the button in the middle of the project near the edge, take the sewing needle and thread, and sew the needle by inserting the thread in and out of the button holes several times. Make sure that the button is attached firmly and secure the thread.
Take approximately 10 inches 3 threads of the knitting yarn (or longer if you desire a longer loop), make a knot, and braid the threads (hold the knot with one hand, place the left thread over the middle thread, place the right thread over the middle thread, tighten the braids along the way and continue so on), knot the end. Insert the knots on the opposite side of the sleeve (opposite to the button), twist them together several times to secure them, and wrap the loop around the button.
