Measuring

We will indicate sizes for women in S, M, L, and XL. You can follow these measurements or make your own. Take the ruler and measure your foot size.

The slipper is divided into the main part and the toe part. Since the toe requires approximately 2.5-3”, the length of the main part of the slipper should be approximately 2.5-3” less than your actual foot size.

Size S is approximately 6.5” in length, size M – 8”, L – 9.5” and XL – 10”.

However, please note that slippers are stretchy and fit a wide range of sizes. You can take your own measurements, choose your desired length and width, and experiment.

In this pattern, we are knitting size M.

The main part

Hooks & Needles

Start by making a slip knot and placing it on your left-hand needle. This counts as your first stitch. Knit one stitch, then slip the new stitch from your right-hand needle back onto your left-hand needle. Now you have two stitches.

To create the next stitch, insert your right-hand needle between the two stitches on your left-hand needle, yarn over, and pull through a loop. Slip this new loop onto the
left-hand needle.

Repeat this process to continue casting on stitches until you have the desired number.

Row 1 and all odd rows are the WS

Hooks & Needles

First 3 sts of each row of the main part:

Last 3 sts of each row of the main part:

Row 2 and all even rows are RS.

Sl the first stitch, k1, then bring the yarn to the front and slip the next stitch without knitting
it. Knit all stitches until you have three left in the row. At this point, k1, bring the yarn to the front again and slip the next stitch without knitting it, then k1.

Continue repeating this row until you reach the desired length for the main part of your
item, subtracting 2.5” for the toe section. For this example, you would knit until the piece
is about 5.5” long.

Hooks & Needles

End with the WS row. Switch colors and repeat one more 1st row with a different color.

To switch colors, knit the last st of the previous row with a new color and make knots to
secure the yarn. You will start a new row with the new color.

Shaping the toe

Row 1 of the toe part

Sl 1st st, *p1, k1 and repeat till the end of the row.

Row 2 of the toe part

Sl 1st st, *k1, p1, and repeat till the end of the row.

Repeat these 2 rows for 2.5-3” and end on the 2nd row.

Hooks & Needles

Decrease rows of the toe

Row 1

1st decrease row of the toe.

K2tog all stitches. If you have an extra st left, k this stitch.

Row 2

Sl 1st st, k all stitches.

Row 3

2nd decrease row of the toe part.

K2tog all stitches. If you have an extra stitch, k this stitch.

Cut the yarn, and leave approximately 20” to use for sewing. Do not cast off the stitches. Take the needle and slip the stitches from the knitting needle into the sewing needle loop by loop, insert the yarn into the loops again, and pull the yarn.

Once you get the toe tip tightly secured, make several knots and continue seaming up the toe part.

Go to the bottom part of the heel and sew the edges of the project together to form a heel. Do not worry if it has a small, uneven corner - it will stretch as soon as you put on your slippers.

To mix and match the colors, use the color you knitted the toe part with and start knitting the main part of the second slipper with this color. You will switch to another color when you reach the toe part.

Ears

Cast on 14 stitches.

Row 1

This is the RS row.

Sl the 1st stitch, then k10. For the WT: slip the next stitch purlwise to the right-hand needle, bring the yarn to the front between the needles, then slip the stitch back to the left-hand needle. Turn your work so the yarn is now in the back, ready for you to continue knitting.

Row 18

Cast off.

Make three more ears. You should have 4 ears in total - 2 for each slipper.

Hooks & Needles

Attaching ears to the slippers

Make knots with the tails of yarns several times to ensure that the corners of the ear are knotted together.

Position the ear on the last row of the main part, take the yarn, and start sewing. Sew the ear to the slipper’s main part, work along the stitches, and secure all stitches.

Pass tails to the inside of the slipper and weave in tails.
