Casting on the stitches

In order to cast the stitches in the knitting needle, place both needles in your right hand. Cast stitches on both needles and slide one needle out in the end. This will help you to make loose stitches and will make the knitting easier.

Long tail cast on - Wrap the yarn around the thumb and index finger of your left
hand as shown in the photo below, and secure the yarn with other three fingers. Make sure that you have the long tail of the yarn. We are knitting two strands of yarn together. Take the beginning of the yarns from two balls and hold them together as one. We will continue the face mask by knitting two strands of yarn as one.

Hooks & Needles

Place the needles above the yarn between your index finger and your thumb and pull it down. Take the yarn with the needle and insert it into the yarn around your thumb from below.

To cast more stitches, place the yarn around the thumb and index finger, so that the needle with two loops on it is in between them. Repeat the same movements.

Cast on 7 sts and slide one needle, so that the needle with loops remains in your left hand.

Row 1

Slip the 1st loop without casting on any stitches.

In order to knit the sleep mask, we will need knit (k) stitches.

Place the needle with stitches in your left hand and a working (empty) needle in your right hand.

To knit a stitch, follow the instructions:

1. Place the yarn on the back side of the needle.
2. Insert the needle into the first loop from the front side.
3. Grab the yarn behind the needle and pull it through the loop.
4. Slip the stitch with the grabbed yarn into the working needle.

Cast off

Slip the first stitch and knit the next one, you will have two stitches on the working needle. Take the left needle and slide, pull over the first loop (one on the right) over the second loop. You will have one stitch left on the working needle. Knit the next stitch and pull over the first stitch over the second stitch. Continue these instructions until you reach the end of the row and have one stitch left on the working needle. Cut off the yarn and secure the extra yarn. Use the sewing needle and insert the yarn in and out of the stitches several times. Make a knot and cut the yarn.

We will knit two icords to attach them to the sleeping mask.

Cast on 4 stitches with one strand of yarn. Once you have stitches casted on the needle, instead of turning the project and starting knitting on the other side, take the second needle, place it in your left hand and slip the stitches from the right-hand needle without knitting them.

You will have the needle with stitches in your left. Knit the stitches with your right-hand needle. Knit approximately 10 inches and cast off. Cut the yarn, leave approximately 10 inches of yarn, we will use it to attach the cords to the sleeping mask.

Use the sewing needle to attach the icords to the sleeping mask. Place the icord in the middle of the left or right side of the sleeping mask and sew it to the mask. Insert the needle into the mask, then across the cord and into the other side of the mask. Repeat these movements several times until you make sure that the cord is attached securely. Make several knots into the stitches to secure the yarn and cut extra yarn.
