Yarn weight categories describe thickness, numbered 0 to 7 on most ball bands, and each has a hook range printed alongside. Common Mistakes, and What to Do Instead
Swatching with one hook and working the project with another
The fix: mark the hook you swatched with. Wrap a strip of masking tape around the handle and leave it there until the project is off the hook, because "the grey 5mm" stops being identifiable the moment a second grey 5mm appears in the case.
Trusting the letter over the millimetres
